Governor's Key Comments!
Atishi, following the Aam Aadmi Party's defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections, resigned from her Chief Minister position and submitted her resignation to Governor V.K. Saxena. The Governor made controversial remarks blaming the Yamuna River's pollution for the AAP's loss. The situation led to growing tensions between the AAP government and the Lieutenant Governor, with the Supreme Court halting a key committee formed to address the river's pollution. The BJP is now forming the new government, with Parvesh Verma likely to be appointed as the new Chief Minister.

It is well known that Atishi resigned from the Chief Minister's position following the Aam Aadmi Party's defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections. Atishi went to Raj Bhavan, met Governor V.K. Saxena, and submitted her resignation letter. During the meeting, the Governor reportedly made sensational remarks. He is said to have commented that the defeat of the AAP in the elections was due to the curse of the Yamuna River and that he had warned Arvind Kejriwal about it earlier, but the Chief Minister had ignored it. Raj Bhavan sources stated that Atishi did not respond to the Governor's comments. The Governor, Saxena, refused to comment on the matter.
The National Green Tribunal had accused the Yamuna River, which provides drinking water to Delhi residents, of having severely increased pollution levels. Following this, a high-level committee, led by the Governor, was formed to investigate the issue and recommend actions for the river's restoration. The committee investigated the pollution of the Yamuna in 2023, and former Chief Minister Kejriwal had stated that he would extend full cooperation to the committee. The Delhi government approached the Supreme Court, challenging the formation of the committee, arguing that the committee should be headed by an expert in the relevant field. The Supreme Court, which took up the investigation, stayed the committee formed by the NGTT. The investigation has been ongoing for two years, and the work of making the Yamuna River free from pollution has come to a halt. Due to the growing controversy, the distance between Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena and the AAP government widened. The LG repeatedly warned that the AAP government would face the curse of the Yamuna River. In his statement, the Lieutenant Governor announced the dissolution of the 7th Delhi Assembly.
The BJP, which emerged victorious in the Assembly elections, has started the process of forming the government. It seems that Parvesh Verma, who won from the Assembly seat against Kejriwal, will be appointed as the Chief Minister. Narendra Modi is currently on a foreign trip, and it is expected that the government will be formed as soon as he returns. For more updates on national news, visit Vaartha.
